Vodafone launches BlackBerry Storm

Vodafone Group has launched the BlackBerry Storm smartphone from Research In Motion. The new smart phone is claimed to be the first clickable touch screen smartphone and will be available on Vodafone's high speed 3G mobile broadband network in Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand from November 2009.

The BlackBerry Storm will also be available exclusively from Verizon Wireless in the US. The new smartphone is claimed to provide features such as e-mail, messaging, multi-media and internet capabilities.

According to the company, the new smartphone provides messaging services including email, SMS and MMS in a single in-box and alerts from social networks. It also offers better sound quality and a 3.2 mega pixel camera with video capabilities.

The BlackBerry Storm smartphone comes with a new browser, which is expected to deliver a high speed web browsing experience, with desktop-style depiction in either portrait or landscape view. It also offers a full QWERTY, SureType or multi-tap keyboard.

The company has said that with this new smartphone its customers can access all Vodafone's entertainment and information services including Vodafone Music, Google Maps and Find&Go navigation, and the Vodafone live! portal.
