Ufone and RIM launch BlackBerry Bold smartphone in Pakistan

Pakistani telecommunications firm Ufone and Research In Motion have launched the BlackBerry Bold smartphone in Pakistan together with Emitac Mobile Solution, a RIM strategic channel partner.

According to Research In Motion (RIM), its BlackBerry Bold smartphone support tri-band HSDPA and Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g) networks. Other features include: a 624MHz mobile processor; 128MB Flash memory plus 1GB on-board storage memory, as well as a microSD/SDHC memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage; and two megapixel camera with video recording capability, built-in flash and digital zoom.

The company claims that MSWord, Excel or PowerPoint files can be edited directly on the handset using the preloaded DataViz Documents to Go software suite. It encompasses other features like Speaker Independent Voice Recognition (SIVR) for Voice Activated Dialing (VAD), Bluetooth 2.0, with support for hands-free headsets, stereo headsets, car kits (including car kits that adhere to the Bluetooth Remote SIM Access Profile) and other Bluetooth peripherals.

Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS) is a Dubai based service provider and a RIM strategic channel partner focused on the delivery, implementation and support of BlackBerry services. It provides the mobile operator with sales, marketing, distribution, solution implementation and technical support services for the BlackBerry wireless platform from Research In Motion (RIM).
