Routing and scheduling services provider DPS has teamed up with TomTom Work, a business-to-business arm of navigation services company TomTom, to provide real-time telematics services to its customers.
Partnership with TomTom Work enables fleet managers using DPS services, to track vehicles around the clock as well as get updated reports on mileage, vehicle idling, and detailed journey. They can dispatch jobs directly to the TomTom navigation device.
Founded in 1982 in the UK, DPS offers specialised logistics support services, including logistics consulting, supply of professional vehicle scheduling and optimisation systems, vehicle routing and time & distance technology systems, systems integration and bespoke services - with ERP, SOP, WMS, TMS, GPS, POD and in-cab monitoring. DPS customers in the UK include food storage specialist ACS&T, Bisley Office Furniture, express delivery firm Business Post, and more.
DPS’ software, the LogiX suite, offers routing and scheduling services such as the desktop system Route LogiX and hosted service logixcentral, which uses cloud computing technology.
Under the partnership with TomTom Work, ETAs from the TomTom Navigation device are fed back to the DPS scheduling platform, so that the system can react to changing conditions on the road in real-time.
Paul Palmer, CEO of DPS, said: “Our customers are already saving up to 25% on their distribution costs by using LogiX software. Our relationship with TomTom means that routes will be more efficient and customer service level significantly increased. If there is an unanticipated delay on a route, we will know in plenty of time to alert the customer.”
DPS customers can also make use of TomTom Work’s newly released Truck Navigation system that provides information on route, clearance heights and weight restrictions for goods vehicles. Users have to enter their vehicle parameters, such as vehicle measurements or axle and total weight, into the TomTom Work navigation system, to get the required information.
